Fulton girls shut out 9-0 by Southern Boone to end season

The Fulton girls soccer team’s season came to an end Saturday.

The No. 7 seed Lady Hornets lost 9-0 to No. 2 seed Southern Boone in the quarterfinals of the Class 2 District 6 Tournament in Mexico. The Class 2 No. 11 Lady Eagles eliminated Fulton without the need to play a second half.

Julia Richardson gave Southern Boone (19-6-1) a 1-0 lead a little more than a minute into the game. Jersee Wren scored and then assisted on another to Grace Dunn for a 3-0 lead about 11 minutes in.

Wren and Richardson each scored another goal that turned into a 7-0 lead about 30 minutes in. The Lady Eagles scored their final goal in the 37th minute.

Fulton wraps up its season with an overall record of 3-19 and a North Central Missouri Conference record of 2-8. The Lady Hornets finished 53rd in the final power rankings released Saturday by the Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association.
