Three Blue Jays make softball all-SLIAC first team

Three Blue Jays stood out for Westminster softball this season.

Laney Rosson, Emily Esquivel and Bailee Zemianek each made the all-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team. Five other Blue Jays earned all-conference honors including Eva Gannon and Kasey Ginder on the second team, and Raigan Mckee, Raegan Dickinson and Haley Miller each made the third team.

Rosson and Esquivel finished the season as co-leaders on the team hits leaderboard. They each had 43 hits, translating to be the top two in runs scored, with Esquivel having 32 and Rosson having 30.

Rosson owned a slash line of .402/.444/.598 as she finished with the most total bases (64), RBI (30), doubles (13) and triples (4) on the team. Esquivel finished with a slash line of .381/.431/.451 with only three strikeouts in 113 at-bats.

Zemianek owned an impressive slash line of .431/.473/.588 in 51 at-bats but was also asked to cover innings in the circle, finishing with a team-best 4.38 ERA in 16 innings.

Gannon led the team in slugging with a percentage of .628, finshing with six doubles and a team-high four home runs. Two of those long ball happened April 23 in a 17-9 win at Eureka, when she also drove in seven runs to help her finish second on the team in the category with 26 RBI.

Ginder finished with 31 hits and 29 runs in 93 at-bats, ranking her third in hits and runs. She owned a .436 on-base percentage.

Mckee tied for second with 33 hits and third with 25 RBI in 89 at-bats while maintaining .371 batting average.

Dickinson had the same amount of hits and RBI as Mckee while ranking second outright in extra-base hits with 13 and doubles with 12.

Miller spent all her time in the circle this season, pitching a second-most 72⅓ innings behind Erin Carr’s 77. Miller finished with an 8.32 ERA but owned the best strikeouts per nine average at 5.23.
