MOKANE, Mo. -- The South Callaway School District will host the Little Olympics event June 30.

It will be held at South Callaway High School’s track and field facility. Anyone up to 10 years old can attend the free event.

An event similar to the Little Olympics youth track meet was done back in the ’80s and ’90s and Stephen Wisch, coach at South Callaway, said they brought it back in recent years.

“It’s a night out on the track for our kids to different track things,” he said.

It’s a way for track members to give back to the community and provide something positive and fun for families of South Callaway, Wisch said.

Participants will get the chance to test out their running, jumping and throwing skills. Events include 50-, 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes, long jump and javelin — using a safety javelin.

The event will run from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
