Leeper, SEMO fall in NCAA Regional opener

South Callaway graduate Peyton Leeper went 1-for-4 at the plate Friday in No. 4 seed Southeast Missouri State’s 7-2 loss against top-seeded Louisville in the Louisville Regional in Louisville, Ky.

Leeper’s hit was a leadoff single to center field in the top of the second inning. Three batters later, Leeper scored on Jevon Mason’s double to right field to give the Redhawks a 2-0 lead.

Southeast Missouri (37-21) will play No. 2 seed Oregon (35-23) at 11 a.m. today in an elimination game.
