New Bloomfield School District is making improvements to its school gyms this summer.

New Bloomfield Superintendent Sarah Wisdom said two gymnasiums are getting some work done.

The elementary school is getting a new floor and New Bloomfield High School will be getting new bleachers.

The floor at the elementary school was in need of repair, Wisdom said.

The renovations have been in the works for a while, she said, since the district knew they needed a new gym floor and bleachers.

Since the school year ended and students are not around, it was the perfect time to start the projects, Wisdom said.

The district had been saving money to help fund the projects.

The elementary school’s gym project is expected to be done in a few weeks while the bleachers at the high school won’t be shipped until the end of June. Once the high school has the new bleachers, they will be installed in mid-July, she said.

Besides the work being done at the gymnasiums this summer, some work is being done at the baseball and softball complex. ADA parking is being added and a fence will be added to the complex. Work is expected to be started sometime in June.

The elementary school’s playground will also be worked on during next school year. Additions will be made to the playground.
