Horstman rebounds career-high 14 in Columbia win

South Callaway graduate DeLaney Horstman is finding her groove with Columbia College.

The freshman scored 14 points and pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench in the Cougars’ 82-72 win Thursday at home against Central Baptist College. It is her second career double-double.

Horstman had the game-high total as well, finishing with more rebounds than American Midwest Conference rebounding leader Aminata Seck, who finished the game with team-highs at 20 points and 10 rebounds. Seck is averaging 9.8 rebounds per game this season.

Thursday’s performance followed the career-high 19 points she scored in 21 minutes to help Columbia defeat Harris-Stowe State 64-50 on Jan. 15.

In the the previous two games, Horstman has played 48 minutes off the bench after averaging 7.5 minutes in her first 11 games.

Columbia now is 15-4 and 8-0 in the American Midwest Conference. The Cougars host Williams Baptist at 1 p.m. Saturday.
