Fulton Public Schools had fun this week as Holiday Spirit Week was under way.

From Monday through Friday, each day had its own holiday theme students could participate in.

To start the week, Monday was "Merry Morning Monday" where students and staff could wear holiday themed pajamas or onesies.

"Holiday Cheer" was Tuesday's theme where everyone wore red and green.

Students and staff found their ugliest holiday sweaters and wore them on "Sweater Weather Wednesday."

Thursday was fun for students and staff as it was a chance to dress as their favorite holiday character.

Holiday Spirit Week ended with some style as it was Family Flannel Friday. Students wore their family photo attire.

Janet Trowbridge, Fulton High School student council teacher, said the idea to have a holiday spirit week came several years ago, as each building hosted their own "Holiday Spirit Week."

FHS Student Council made a proposal to all administrators about participating in a district-wide Spirit Week. She said everyone was on board with the idea and it took off from there.

"We have been promoting a district-wide Spirit Week for several years now and it is another way to demonstrate that we are all one Hornet team," Trowbridge said.

Students from all grade levels are all united in their holiday spirit attires.

Each year, the FHS Leadership Class proposes the spirit days to each of the building principals and creates a flyer to share with students, staff, and families. They try to design days that will work for all of the buildings from pre-K through 12.

Trowbridge said the purpose of promoting a districtiwide Spirit Week is to create a fun and positive culture within the district the last week before winter break. It is an opportunity to create some holiday spirit that unites all the buildings pre-K through 12 and it's a fun way to wrap up the first semester.

North Callaway School District also held Spirit Week this week.

Themes were "A Christmas Story," "Merry Christmas Morning," "Ugly Sweater Weather,"and "Snow Ballin'." Students could dress like their favorite winter or Christmas character, wear their holiday themed pajamas, ugly Christmas sweaters and wear a court warming shirt or dress in white.
