SERVE'S food pantry is still in need of food and volunteers.
Diane Henry, of SERVE, Inc., said SERVE really appreciated the community stepping up in doing a food drive in September because they were short on food.
Three service Fulton organizations worked together back in September to raise tons of food to help SERVE.
Fulton Rotary, Breakfast Optimist Club and Kiwanis raised 4,349.24 pounds of food to help SERVE.
SERVE has managed food shortages through grants and community donations. They have also been able to get by with what the food bank is able to provide them. But there's still a need for food and volunteers.
"We're still hanging in there," she said.
During this time of year close to the holidays, Henry said the pantry tries to provide what people need by Christmas.
The pantry usually runs low on canned goods. Because of shortages of certain goods, people are welcome to donate to the pantry at any time, she said. Donations help those in need get by every month.
Next week, meals and gifts will be distributed at Westminster College on Dec. 15 in the morning as apart of the Adopt-a-Family program.
Henry said SERVE is already getting set up for the Adopt-a-Family event next week.
Adopt-a-Family provides essential groceries for Callaway County households that are living in poverty, and gifts for children, disabled adults and seniors over the age of 60.
The program matches members of the local area with children of low-income families, whom they "adopt" for Christmas. Those who adopt someone will receive a list of gift ideas for the child, and will then purchase them gifts.
Adopters can buy families what they want and need, and also something to wear, and something to read.
SERVE is always accepting volunteers on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
To volunteer, call SERVE to set it up or go to their website, SERVEinc.net, to set it up under the volunteer tab.
