Candidate filing now open for upcoming election

Candidate filing opens today for the upcoming General Municipal Election in April.

The open positions for the City of Fulton includes the Mayor, councilmembers for all wards and city attorney.

Filing was scheduled to open today at 8 a.m. and will continue until Dec. 27 at 5 p.m. Candidate packets can be picked up at the City Clerk's Office. Fully completed packets are required by law to be directly turned in to the clerk's office as well.

Candidates will be placed on the election ballot in the order the packets are received by the clerk's office.

Candidates running for a council member position must receive 25 valid signatures from registered and qualified voters within your ward.

Fulton city council members have two-year terms.

For mayor, candidates must receive 100 valid signatures from registered and qualified voters within the city limits of Fulton. The mayor serves terms of four years.

The General Municipal Election will be on Apr. 4, 2023.
