William Woods places 23 on fall Daktronics NAIA scholar-athlete list

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the Fall 2022 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes, and William Woods placed 23 student-athletes on the list.

"Our student-athletes continue to do an outstanding job in the classroom," William Woods interim director of intercollegiate athletics Tracy Gastineau stated in a press release. "This accomplishment by our fall student-athletes is another example of our students, faculty and staff's commitment to academic success."

Volleyball led the fall teams with seven players earning the scholar-athlete title. Women's soccer finished close behind with six.

In order to be nominated by an institution's sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate of the sport, be of at least sophomore standing at the time of nomination and have attended William Woods for one full year.

Here are the Owls' scholar-athletes by sport:

Volleyball - Lauren Adams, Riley Alton, Lauren Hiestand, Ally Konarzewski, Lanie Lowry, Kassidy Phillips and Tori Rosemann.

Women's soccer - Belle Boschert, Mackenzie Boyle, Hannah Loethen, Sam Poehlmann, Abby Prather-Turner and Abby Wilson.

Men's soccer - Daniel Bateman, Evan Filer, Chais Paul and Emilio Ruiz.

Women's cross country - Emma Clifford, Ellie Dimond, Alicia Engelbrecht and Faith Gerling.

Men's cross country - Landon Dunlap and Dustin Russell.
