Fulton Middle School Choir gets support from community for uniform donations

Abbey Ordway, vocal music director at Fulton Middle School, said this year would be a bit different as the uniforms would change.

So Ordway made a post on social media, and it helped get more donations. The post asked for donations of either black dress pants or black dress shoes and monetary donations.

"Through donations, we have been able to purchase new shirts and new pants," Ordway said.

Uniforms are needed the week before the concert, she said.

Ordway added the choir has a stock of uniforms students can borrow for the school year. For years, the choir has had a stockpile of extra uniforms.

"It's going very well," Ordway said since receiving the donations.

The money received will be used for new pants, shirts and shoes for all students who can't purchase their own.

FMS's first concert is set for Oct. 24.

Donations are still being taken for dress shoes and dress pants at FMS if anyone would like to donate. Contact the school to donate.

The FMS choir program has already done some exciting things this year. The choir sent 16 students to Springfield for Missouri Choral Directors Association annual conference. The students were selected from 300 students across the state to perform.

The choir program is also going to the Fox Theater in St. Louis to see a show that's yet to be decided, Ordway said.
