High school boys' basketball: Mexico 70, Fulton 63

The Hornets suffered their first loss of the season in falling to the state-ranked Bulldogs in overtime in an NCMC rivalry clash Monday night at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.

Fulton dropped to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the North Central Missouri Conference. Mexico - ranked seventh in Class 4 by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association - was playing its NCMC opener and stayed unbeaten at 7-0.

Sophomore forward Josh Reams logged 17 points to direct three players in double figures for the Hornets. Sophomore guard Courtland Simmons provided 16 points and freshman center Javar Galbreath added 13.

Fulton dropped the junior varsity game 52-48. Freshman guard Rowdy Gohring connected for 26 points.

The Hornets play at Southern Boone at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
