High school girls' basketball: Montgomery County 57, North Callaway 11

MONTGOMERY CITY - The Lady Wildcats secured their second straight Eastern Missouri Conference title by manhandling the Ladybirds on Tuesday night.

North Callaway (6-16, 3-6 EMO) quickly found itself down 15-2 after one quarter and trailed 27-6 at halftime.

Junior guard Ryelle Schmauch scored six points for the Ladybirds.

Renee Finke directed Montgomery County (19-6, 10-0) with a game-high 20 points and Taylor Flake finished with 10.

On Monday night in Kingdom City, the Ladybirds were outscored by Bowling Green 16-3 in the second quarter of a 44-30 EMO loss to the Lady Bobcats.

North Callaway was in front 7-6 after one quarter, but Bowling Green used its second-quarter surge to build a 22-10 lead at the break. The Lady Bobcats maintained a 30-16 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

Freshman guard Abrielle Burgher - who was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line - topped the Ladybirds with 12 points. Senior guard Hayley Kimbley collected seven rebounds.

Kaylyn Charlton - who made 9-of-10 free throws - directed Bowling Green with a game-high 17 points.

North Callaway is the fourth seed for next week's Class 4, District 7 Tournament and will return to No. 4 Montgomery County for a quarterfinal game at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
