Men's Basketball: Westminster shines inside in 77-55 win at CCCB

The Westminster men didn't have the 3-ball Saturday, but that wasn't a problem.

Westminster made just 2-of-20 shots from beyond the arc at Central Christian College of the Bible, but the Blue Jays pulled down 12 offensive rebounds and scored 48 points in the paint to win 77-55 in Moberly.

Five Blue Jays scored in double figures and three had seven rebounds, including a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds from Jaxon Althaus.

Tre Kempker scored 13 and had eight rebounds, Landon Harrison and Devonte Hubbard each scored 10 and Fulton graduate Makygh Galbreath added 10 points off the bench. Harrison also had seven rebounds.

Westminster (4-5) made five consecutive layups for an 18-11 lead at 13:55 left in the first half. The Blue Jays then benefited from a couple tip-ins from Galbreath and Kempker in the midst of a 9-4 run for a 31-19 lead.

Coming out of halftime with a 37-27 lead, Westminster continued to snag the defensive rebounds after a Central Christian miss, allowing two offensive rebounds in each half.

Central Christian (5-3) began the half with a 3-pointer but didn't cut the lead down any further. Althaus scored 13 of his points in the second half, including one of Westminster 3-pointers at 6:10 for a 62-51 lead.

Westminster visits Division II Missouri S&T at 3 p.m. Saturday before making a Dec. 31 trip to nationally ranked No. 20 Washington University.
