Prep Baseball: Bowling Green 5, North Callaway 2

BOWLING GREEN - The Bowling Green Bobcats scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday, which proved to be the difference in a 5-2 Eastern Missouri Conference win against the North Callaway Thunderbirds.

Sam Pezold's RBI single with two outs in the top of the second inning scored North Callaway's first run, tying the game at 1. In the fifth, Christian Griffith grounded out to second base, driving in the Thunderbirds' other run to tie the score at 2.

Bowling Green collected two of its four hits in the sixth.

North Callaway also finished with four hits. Pezold had a pair of hits, adding a leadoff single and scoring in the fifth. Bryce Clark and Griffith each added a hit for the Thunderbirds.

Jacob Morris took the loss on the mound, giving up five runs on four hits with six walks and seven strikeouts in 5 innings for the Thunderbirds. Pezold retired the only two batters he faced in relief on flyouts.

Kaden Chandler struck out 10 batters in a complete-game effort for Bowling Green (2-3, 2-1 EMO).

North Callaway (2-5, 1-2 EMO) will continue conference play Thursday at Wellsville-Middletown.
