Fulton, Holts Summit libraries to reopen

The next phase of the Daniel Boone Regional Library's reopening plan begins today, when all buildings reopen with limited hours and services, and some bookmobile stops resume.

"We've made several modifications to our operations in our buildings to increase the safety of both patrons and staff during the continuing pandemic," said Margaret Conroy, executive director of Daniel Boone Regional Library. "Some of the computers will be available, patrons can come in to check out materials and use the free Wi-Fi, but their visits are limited to one hour. We're also following the state of Missouri and Boone County health department guidelines on how many people we can have in our buildings at one time."

The curbside hold pickup service will remain available in Ashland, Columbia and Fulton.

Visitors can expect the following when they come to the library:

The number of visitors will be limited in the buildings.

Visits will be limited to one hour.

The library requests that visitors wear face masks. All library staff will be wearing face masks.

Markings on the floor will help visitors maintain 6 foot social distancing guidelines when standing in line.

Some of the computers have been removed or covered to maintain at least 6 feet of distance between each computer user.

Meeting and study rooms are closed.

No story times or other events will be held in the buildings.

Passport, notary and proctoring services are not available.

Periodicals and magazines are not available.

Children's play equipment is not accessible.

There will be no in-person tech help. Patrons can sign up for a virtual tech help session for help with their Apple, Android or Windows computer or device. Appointments can take place over the phone, by email or via Zoom and can be set up online at dbrl.org/virtual-tech-help-request-form

The big bookmobile will restart community visits on its normal schedule, but patrons will not be able to get on board to browse. As before, patrons will be able to pick up their holds from the bookmobile in Auxvasse, Hallsville, Harrisburg, Rocheport, Sturgeon and at the North County Shopping Center in Columbia.

Library staff will sanitize surfaces throughout the day such as the self-service check-out machines and computer workstations. Hand sanitizer will be placed throughout the buildings for visitors to use.

The libraries' open hours will mirror the curbside pickup hours. The Holts Summit Public Library will resume its regular open schedule.
