High school girls' basketball: Hannibal 51, Fulton 39

The Lady Hornets had their two-game winning streak halted in a North Central Missouri Conference loss to the Lady Pirates on Friday night at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.

Fulton - which was swept in the season series by Hannibal - fell to 6-16 on the season and 1-7 in the NCMC.

The Lady Hornets were down 14-6 after one quarter and trailed 24-13 at halftime. The Lady Pirates edged Fulton 18-14 in the third quarter to increase their lead to 42-27.

Sophomore guard Kiah Pittman topped the Lady Hornets with 11 points and junior forward Sydney Hedgpath contributed 10.

Emma Deien directed Hannibal with a game-high 13 points and Bella Falconer provided 11.

"Credit to Coach (Evan) Cervens, this is his second year at Hannibal and he has done a great job turning that program around," Fulton head coach Dillan Brunk said. "They came ready to play and were aggressive on both ends of the floor."

The Lady Hornets go to Moberly for an NCMC game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Fulton suffered a narrow 44-40 home loss to the Lady Spartans on Jan. 31.
