High school boys' basketball: Adams tallies 23, directs Hornets to 57-50 win over Osage

OSAGE BEACH - Fulton senior forward John Adams connected for a game-high 23 points to guide the Hornets to a 57-50 victory over the Osage Indians on Monday night.

Senior forward Tyler Sayler also tallied 15 points for Fulton (10-8), which was in front 18-12 after one quarter. The Hornets then outscored Osage 15-10 in the second quarter to stretch their lead to 33-22 at halftime.

Fulton protected a 39-36 edge to open the fourth quarter and was able to turn back the Indians.

"I thought we came out strong and jumped out to a nice early lead," Hornets head coach Justin Gilmore said. "We were hitting on all cylinders offensively in the first half.

"I thought we moved the ball well and got a lot of easy buckets. Our assist numbers have been very high over the last few games and it has been fun to watch the guys share the ball with each other."

Dylan Long topped Osage with 15 points.

"Osage really did a good job fighting back to get into the game," Gilmore said. "They are a tough team and the environment in their gym was pretty awesome for a high school basketball game."

The Hornets prevailed in the junior varsity game 46-41. Freshman forward Colby Lancaster logged 10 points.

Fulton hosted Marshall in a North Central Missouri Conference contest Tuesday night. Results were not available at press time.
