Fulton's Baker, Clines, Arney qualify for girls state wrestling

WENTZVILLE - Fulton sophomore Rylee Baker qualified for the state wrestling championships by taking second place at 110 pounds at the Class 1 District 2 tournament Saturday at Holt High School.

Baker will be returning to the state championships for a second straight year. She will be joined by Fulton junior Paige Clines and freshman Ryli Arney, who both came in third at 187 and 235 pounds, respectively, Saturday.

Clines is also a two-time state qualifier, while Arney will be making her first appearance. The state championships start Thursday, Feb. 20, at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Baker (29-6) was pinned by Washington's Mia Reed in 58 seconds for the District 2 title at 110.

Clines (25-9) pinned Orchard Farm's Lilly Bader in 1:22 in the third-place match at 187. Arney (28-8) also logged a pin of Holt's Sydni Scott in :52 for third place at 235.

Fulton finished sixth as a team with 76 points. Holt secured the District 2 championship with 159.5 points.
