New Bloomfield's Distler locks up individual title at Linn Invitational

LINN - New Bloomfield junior Caleb Distler secured the boys varsity individual title with a time of 17:20.72 to spark the Wildcats cross country team Saturday at the 41st annual Linn Invitational.

Sophomore Nathan Hinrichs followed in fourth place in 17:47.49 for New Bloomfield as the Wildcats finished eighth as a team with 223 points.

In the girls' varsity division, North Callaway junior Kaleigh Moore took third in 21:11.36 to steer the Ladybirds to a fifth-place team finish with 145 points. Fulton junior Kayanna Gaines came in fifth in 21:21.66 as the Lady Hornets placed eighth with 186 points.

New Bloomfield sophomore Mikaela Lemelin was 22nd in 23:14.76 to guide the Lady Wildcats to a seventh-place finish with 183 points. South Callaway junior Karley Patrick placed 82nd in 28:35.51 as the Lady Bulldogs did not field a full team.

Fulton sophomore Shaun Wolfe placed 24th in 19:22.00 as the Hornets finished seventh in the boys division with 210 points. North Callaway junior Grant Eichman took 39th in 20:20.39 as the Thunderbirds were 12th with 292 points.

South Callaway junior Dustin Russell came in 23rd in 19:17.16 as the Bulldogs also did not field a complete team.

Sophomore Brian Figard placed 55th in 20:56.67 for the New Bloomfield boys and sophomore Aidan Carr was 90th in 22:34.28. Junior Gabe Browning finished 110th in 24:14.63.

Sophomore Alexander Noel was next in 35th in 19:57.52 for the Fulton boys, while freshman Dennis McGregory took 50th in 20:44.07. Sophomore Jacob Barnes placed 53rd in 20:54.07 and sophomore Joshua Bonnel came in 70th in 21:28.72.

Freshman Brendan Reinhard placed 62nd in 21:10.91 for the North Callaway boys and sophomore David Baires finished 67th in 21:23.33. Junior Joseph Crawford took 72nd in 21:32.07, while junior Noah Scrogum was 88th in 22:27.20.

Junior Raife Evans came in 59th in 21:09.29 for the South Callaway boys and freshman Dylan Dugan placed 103rd in 23:22.56. Junior Kenny Brown finished 120th in 26:42.70.

Senior River Nolting was also 37th in 24:28.48 for the North Callaway girls, sophomore Rachael Jeffries took 40th in 24:35.61 and sophomore Piper Jeffries came in 54th in 25:39.60. Junior Makenna Allen was next in 55th in 25:40.97.

Freshman Mikah Edwards placed 23rd in 23:20.89 for the New Bloomfield girls and sophomore Jillian Pry finished 43rd in 24:44.61. Sophomore Abby Baxter took 63rd in 26:29.11, while sophomore Ellie Emerson came in 92nd in 30:51.99.

Freshman Taylor Hickerson was 35th in 24:22.81 for the Fulton girls and senior Caitlin Sievert placed 53rd in 25:38.58. Freshman Jonna Vanzetti finished 75th in 27:19.48, while junior Anna Lowry took 78th in 27:24.03.

Hermann swept the boys and girls team championships with 47 and 76 points, respectively.

The Hornets and Lady Hornets host their annual Fulton Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday. North Callaway will also compete.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will host their annual South Callaway Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday. New Bloomfield will also run in the races.
