A house rented by Second Chance employee Sherry Paulo on West Sixth Street may be, according to an amended lawsuit, where Carl DeBrodie died in October or November of 2016. No one answered a knock on the door Wednesday.

Recently released court documents allege Carl DeBrodie died in a home occupied by Sherry Paulo and her husband, Anthony Flores.

The filings are among an amended complaint in the DeBrodie civil case filed by members of his family this week. The body of DeBrodie, 31, a developmentally disabled man, was found discarded in a Fulton storage unit April 24, 2017. Paulo was an employee of Second Chance Homes, where DeBrodie was supposed to be living.

The filings state DeBrodie was staying at Paulo's residence the night of his death.

Personal property tax records filed with Callaway County revealed Paulo and Flores lived in a home at 202 W. Sixth St. in Fulton, rented from a local landlord.

Donald Kritzer - who is the landlord of the residence - confirmed Wednesday that Paulo and Flores were living in the dwelling in 2016, during the time when DeBrodie may have died and still are current occupants. He said he knew Paulo was connected to Second Chance Homes and possibly DeBrodie, but didn't have any information about him visiting the house.

"They've been tenants for a long time," Kritzer said of Paulo and Flores. "This is nothing I would ever have thought of from them. I was shocked."

He said he learned from a news report at noon Wednesday that DeBrodie might have died in Paulo's residence.

"I knew where she worked," Kritzer added. "I've been really, really interested in the case."

He added DeBrodie's death saddened him.
