Arrowood, Lady Bulldogs race past Russellville

MOKANE - Junior center Konnor Arrowood responded with a game-high 24 points as the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs roughed up the Russellville Lady Indians 71-36 in Show-Me Conference play Thursday night.

Sophomore forward Adrian Mann also supplied 18 points for South Callaway (7-3, 3-1 SMC), which led 16-8 after one quarter and took command by outscoring Russellville 20-3 in the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs - who finished 24-of-33 from the free-throw line - owned a decisive 57-25 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

"Our defense was astounding and it was there all night long," South Callaway head coach Darren Humphrey said. "We were able to get the ball inside and feed the post really well.

"It was an uptempo game and our passing was some of the best we've had all year."

Lindsey Brandt topped Russellville with seven points.

South Callaway's non-conference home game against North Callaway on Saturday was postponed because of snow. A makeup date has not been announced.

The Lady Bulldogs are the No. 4 seed for their South Callaway Invitational Tournament this week. The Lady Bulldogs will clash with No. 5 seed New Haven in the first round at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the high school gym.

North Callaway is the No. 7 seed and will square off against No. 2 Hermann in the first round at 6 p.m. Monday in the middle school gym. The Ladybirds lost their season opener at Hermann 55-19 on Nov. 24.
