CHAMOIS - Sophomore forward Adrian Mann connected for a game-high 15 points and the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs relied on strong defense to down the Chamois Lady Pirates in Tuesday night's 41-36 Show-Me Conference triumph.
South Callaway (6-3, 2-1 SMC) trailed 23-21 at halftime, but outscored Chamois 11-8 in the third quarter to go in front 32-31 and then held off the Lady Pirates over the final 8 minutes.
Junior center Konnor Arrowood also reached double figures with 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
"We played really, really well on defense and got after them," South Callaway head coach Darren Humphrey said. "We got out on the ball and stopped rotation. With our interior defense and pressure, I couldn't have asked for the girls to work any harder."
Michaela Nolte and Cheyenne Hemeyer logged nine points apiece for Chamois, which hit six 3-pointers.
"They're bigger than us and really athletic," Humphrey said of the Lady Pirates. "We had a lot of post looks, but we just couldn't get our outside shots to fall.
"It's hard to play down here; I feel good to get out of here with a win."
The Lady Bulldogs return home for an SMC encounter with Russellville at 6 p.m. Thursday.
