EUGENE - Three New Bloomfield golfers moved on to sectional play as the Lady Wildcats took fifth place with a 447 total in the Class 1, District 3 championships Monday at Redfield Golf Course.
Senior Hannah Cornman led New Bloomfield's three sectional qualifiers by coming in 16th with a 102. Sophomore Alexandra Morningstar was one spot behind Cornman, finishing 17th with a 103, while sophomore Maddison Markland placed 22nd with a 111.
The Lady Wildcats' trio will compete in sectional play next Monday at Silo Ridge Golf Course in Bolivar.
"I was really happy with the girls," New Bloomfield head coach Aaron Murphy said. "They just hung in there and grinded it out. They might not have been happy with their scores, but they still advanced and that's the most important thing."
Freshman Katie Kelley finished in a three-way tie for 32nd for the Lady Wildcats with a 131.
"I was really pleased with Katie's effort this year; it was a great learning experience for her," Murphy said. "If she keeps working hard, she can do great things."
