Fulton boys edge past Kirksville, win third in a row

The Hornets outscored the Tigers 34-20 in the second half to key a 58-54 comeback North Central Missouri Conference win on Tuesday night at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.

Fulton (15-7, 5-4 NCMC) has won for a third straight game, with all the victories coming by a combined nine points.

The Hornets trailed 34-24 at halftime, but limited Kirksville to seven points in the third quarter to trail 41-39 to start the fourth. With his team trailing 55-54, Fulton junior reserve guard Radarion Glover stole the ball and was immediately fouled by the Tigers' Chance Edwards.

Glover's free throws gave the Hornets a 56-54 lead. Senior forward Austin Wilson iced the game for Fulton with two more free throws as his team erased a double-digit second half deficit for third game in a row.

Gibson scored 15 points to lead all players. Senior guard Ricky Dawson added 13 points, while Wilson finished with nine. Glover scored six points as the Hornets shot just 32 percent (18-of-56) from the field.

Gibson and senior forward Sam Christensen each collected eight rebounds to boost Fulton to a 45-31 advantage on the glass. The victory completed a season sweep of the Tigers by the Hornets.

Dallin Vorkink paced the Tigers with 13 points, while Edwards added 12. Landon Motley posted 11 points for the Kirksville, which shot 37 percent (20-of-54).

Lane Kephart grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for the Tigers.

Fulton earned a 39-36 junior varsity to improve to improve to 12-4.

The Hornets stay home for an NCMC clash with the Hannibal Pirates at 7:30 tonight. Fulton suffered its first loss of the season to the Pirates 64-63 on Dec. 30 in Hannibal.
