No elections in five Callaway County precincts

In Tuesday's election, Callaway County Clerk Hubbard said there will be no election at some Callaway County polling places because no issues are to be decided in those areas.

The five Callaway County precinct polling places with no elections Tuesday are Millersburg, West Fulton, Calwood, Stephens and Hatton.

The absence of contests in those precincts was caused by the lack of opposition for Board of Education candidates in the Fulton and North Callaway school districts.

Hubbard said there also are no elections set Tuesday for any fire protection districts in Callaway County.

Under Missouri law, school districts where candidates for the board of education have no opposition are not required to have an election and pay the school district's share of county election costs.

Hubbard said the Callaway County Clerk's Office will accept absentee ballots at the clerk's office in the courthouse until 5 p.m. Monday.

As a convenience to voters, Hubbard opened the clerk's office Saturday morning to accept absentee ballots.
