Red Cross golf tourney to help area families during disaster

Fundraiser slated for Aug. 23 in Fulton

The American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter is hosting its Masters of Disaster Golf Classic on Aug. 23 at Tanglewood Golf Course.

"This is a great opportunity for local golfers to spend a day on the links at Tanglewood with their friends while supporting a worthwhile cause," Clayton Kennedy, Red Cross community market manager and tournament director, said in a press release. "We are planning to make the tournament even better than in past years."

Registration and lunch start at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon.

Proceeds from the event - a four-person, two-flight scramble - will benefit the chapter's disaster relief efforts, preparedness and health and safety classes, as well as services for military families.

To help the tornado-stricken people of Dumas and surroundings, donations can be made to the Delta Area Disaster Relief Fund, care of the Delta Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 894, Dumas, AR, 71639, or through the Arkansas Community Foundation, 700 S. Rock St., Little Rock, AR, 72202.
