Fulton opens up district play with win over Osage

The No. 4 seeded Hornets got 14 points from sophomore guard Deon Galbreath in Monday's 57-34 first round win over Osage in Class 4 District 10 play on Monday at Eldon High School. The Hornets bounced back from a regular-season ending loss to Mexico on Friday to improve to 12-11 on the season.

Senior forward Nick Christensen was the only other Fulton player in double figures scoring with 10 points. Junior forward Jake Nickelson, who got brought up from junior varsity last week, pulled down 10 rebounds for the Hornets.

Fulton will take on the top seeded Helias Crusaders tonight at 6 p.m. at Eldon in the Class 4 District 10 semifinals. In the two team's last meeting on Jan. 21, Helias cruised to a 64-36 win in Jefferson City.

ELDON - The Lady Hornets season came to an end in Tuesday's loss to Osage in the Class 4 District 10 semifinals at Eldon High School. The two teams were tied at 24 going into halftime but Fulton got left behind from that point on, getting outscored 25-11 in the second half.

Junior forward Cori Hamilton led Fulton with 17 points while Osage got 25 points from Summer Dean, with nine of those points coming in the fourth quarter. Fulton ends the season with a record of 9-16.

ASHLAND - The Ladybirds got 12 points from junior guard Jordan Gray and 12 points from senior forward Morgan Brown Emmons in Monday's loss to the Southern Boone Eagles. The Eagles went on a 23-0 run that spanned the second and third quarters to put distance between them and North Callaway (7-13).

Brown Emmons and freshman forward Maddie Sorell each had eight rebounds on the night. Southern Boone got 23 points from Jessica Heuer and 22 points from Alysia Sapp.

North Callaway hosts Harrisburg on Thursday at 6 p.m.

NEW BLOOMFIELD - The Lady Wildcats had three players in double figures n Tuesday nights win against Silex. New Bloomfield improved to 11-13 on the season.

Senior guard Elizabeth Clark had 21 points while forward Amanda Howard had 16 points and junior forward Chelsea Wiler had 15. New Bloomfield plays at Southern Boone Friday at 6 p.m.

KINGDOM CITY - The T-Birds got outscored 44-22 in the second half on their way to a loss to Southern Boone on Tuesday night. Senior forward Jacob Stafford had 11 points and nine rebounds for North Callaway, who fell to 5-16 overall. Southern Boone's Trey Lacey led the Eagles (16-7) with 26 points.

They close the season on Friday at 6 p.m. against Harrisburg.
