Any government that is constantly giving is going to fail. There is only so much to give. Get a smaller government and go with a fair tax. If we had fewer regulations and stipulations on running a business more small businesses could survive and create more jobs. On the other hand, fewer people are actually willing to work for a living. When you can get paid to not work, why work? Democrat philosophy...pay those who refuse to help themselves.
I was actually quite disappointed. The food was pretty good, other than the salsa was rather bland. The service I had was well below what I have gotten at other Mexican restaurants here in Fulton, but I am sure I will give them a second chance.
I would love to be able to have access to that building to take some pictures. I have always enjoyed seeing the old building (as I do other old buildings in Fulton). It will be a shame to see yet another building with history torn down.
I find this sad for those who are homeschooling their kids. I wish if you home-schooled your kids you could get a break from this. It's not their fault that the property values are going down right along with the quality of education.
Where is the signup list. I am willing to put an effort in if the fairboard is willing to listen.
Get it out of the shed and out where people can see it. A contest like this should be visible so people can actually watch.
I can tell you why the attendance was down. Lack of Quality. They talk of bringing in a "big band" yet its still another no name band that won't draw people. Maybe some liked them, but its still not a "big band."
If you want people to show up, you have to have quality entertainment and give them a reason to come. Most that I talked to say they don't come because when they have been it wasn't anything special.
Bring in a quality crew to do the rides and games for the kids. Offer some real prizes for those who participate in the events and make it worth the time of people to actually come out. Charging $10 to get in for something that is sub par is going to hurt them in the future.
Organization is key as well. We should never hear over the loud speakers that they need someone to "turn off the lights" or "bring a tractor down to pull someone out." That should always be planned in advance and ready to go when needed.
Personally I think the fair used to be a lot better than what it was this year. The company they hire for the rides was much worse than in years past. A lot of the equipment was old and run down. I ended up going on Saturday and I was severely disappointed with the events. Seemed very disorganized.
I wish I could get in and photograph some of these historic buildings. I would love to preserve what they are in photos.
There are laws against burning certain things. I would recommend calling the sheriffs department to check with them on what is ok and what is not. You can't burn trash in town.
