Children's entertainer, Jim Gill, left, plays his guitar and sings one of his songs yesterday at the Callaway County Library. Gills made his first of three stops yesterday in Fulton. He will perform at the Columbia Public Library today at 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and the Southern Boone County Public Library at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Gills said his favorite aspect of performing is seeing the adults and children interact with each other. He said when adults become involved in the music with their children, the children pay closer attention and will more easily pick up on the directions and musical rhythms. Gills studied child development in graduate school and said young children are better prepared for school when parents or guardians do five simple, research-based activities with their children — talking, singing, playing, reading and writing.
