Bush Elementary student Karly Holland, 10, holds a speckled king snake on Thursday when Missouri Department of Conservation naturalist Becky Matney visited to teach students in the school’s BAC PAC program about Missouri reptiles. Matney said the Bush Elementary students responded well to the snake and most students held it on their own. “We want people to realize snakes aren’t out to get them,” Matney said. “They have their own mission, and that’s to eat and live.”
