Children take part in crafts based around “Finding Nemo” during the Reading is Key event at the Callaway County Public Library last year. The annual event, sponsored by the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority from Westminster College, is intended to raise awareness for Reading is Fundamental and to promote literacy among children. This year’s event is from 1-3:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 at the library.

Colleges to promote literacy to local youth

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” — Dr. Seuss Greek groups from Westminster College and William Woods University are hosting two separate events to help promote literacy among children over the next two weeks; one on Saturday featuring a Toy Story theme and one on March 2 revolving around perennial childhood favorite Dr. Seuss.
