A Missouri State Highway Patrolman measures the roadway at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday at an accident with traffic backed up in the westbound lane of U.S. 54 in Holts Summit. A tow truck prepares to remove a vehicle that slipped off the highway. Two other accidents on the westbound lane, including one on the south end of the Missouri River Bridge a little later backed up traffic to Holts Summit. Another accident eight miles south of Fulton had a vehicle on its top.
