May 12, 1927 - December 27, 2013
Ruth E. (Nelson) White, 86, of Fulton, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013. She was born May 12, 1927, in Hatton, the daughter of the late Oscar Eugene Nelson and the late Elizabeth Nelson. Ruth was married in 1946, to Ray E. Harrison. She later married Jesse D. White on September 26, 1975. He survives her passing. Ruth retired from Fulton State Hospital after 30 years of service where she most enjoyed working with the youth. Ruth always loved taking care of children, her nieces and nephews were like her own, and her love for Shelly was spoken of often. Ruth had a blast antiquing with her husband, Jesse. Her flower garden was always a sight to behold. Ruth was known to make the best biscuits and gravy and potato soup, hands down, but Ruth always felt her greatest accomplishment was raising her children, Larry, Donald, and Donna. In addition to her husband, Ruth will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three children, Larry R. Harrison (Sharon) of Port Charlotte, Fla., Donald D. Harrison (Aimee) of Sturgeon, Mo., and Donna J. Gentry (Bob) of Hatton; seven grandchildren, Michelle Strode (Jeremiah) and Michael Gentry, both of Auxvasse, Mo., Kristin Harrison, Ashley Harrison (Josh), Cortney Walters (Bennett), all of the state of Florida, Alisha Carpenter (Steve) of St. Louis, Mo., and Ryan Harrison of Columbia, Mo.; one step-grandson, Jordan Olmstead of Sturgeon, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Miah, Ashlyn, Rylan, Raegan, and Ella; three sisters, Hazel Chism and Linda Craghead of Fulton, and Margaret Huer of Mexico, Mo.; one brother, Gordan Nelson (JoAnn) of Hatton; her caregiver, Darla Gabel, who took care of Ruth with great compassion and love; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alma Kronk, and three brothers, Eugene, Henry, and Ralph (Peck) Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Auxvasse Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made in Ruth's name to the Auxvasse Cemetery, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
