Benjamin Travis Harris

December 17, 1983 - December 6, 2012

SSGT. Benjamin Travis Harris, 28, of Auxvasse, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012. He was born December 17, 1983, the son of David Allen Harris and Pamela (Bishop) Dubbert. On March 4, 2009, Ben was united in marriage to Renea (Renaudette) Harris, who survives his passing along with their daughter, Khloe, at the home. Ben was assigned to the 1438th Engineering Company out of Macon. He completed several tours around the state of Missouri to assist with national disaster recovery. Ben also did tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, and was due to be deployed back to Afghanistan in May. Ben helped build a school in Nicaragua and volunteered his time to speak on several occasions at Auxvasse Elementary School about his experiences while deployed. In addition to his mother, father, wife, and daughter, Ben will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one stepfather, Paul Dubbert of Laddonia; one stepmother, Mary Harris of Portland; four sisters, Amy Bell and husband, Clifton, of Auxvasse, Jodie Bird and husband, Dennis, of Fulton, Jessica Sewell and husband, Bobby, of Portland, and Jeanna Slizewski and husband, Danny, of Fulton; one mother-in-law, Jackie Vittetoe and significant other, Mark Womack; one father-in-law, Ken Renaudette; nine nieces and nephews, Grant Bell, Keaton Bell, Brock Bell, Colby Bird, Alyssa Bird, Carleigh Harrison, Lacey Sewell, Molly Slizewski, and Charlie Slizewski; one close cousin, Dustin Wilson and his daughter, Leanne Wilson, of Seattle, Wash.; and one grandfather, Jim Kennedy, of Tulsa, Okla. Ben was preceded in death by grandparents, RC and Juanita Bishop, and Nelson and Joann Harris. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Terry Lippstreu officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2012, also at Maupin Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens.
