Francis Owen McVeigh, 82, of Fulton, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was born November 17, 1929, in Fulton, the son of the late Frank Aubrey and Ruth Ann (Owen) McVeigh. He was united in marriage to Bonnie M. Mosley in Hams Prairie on December 10, 1950. She survives at their home. Francis boasted perfect attendance in both grade school and high school. Francis owned McVeigh Welding from 1962 until 2003. Civically minded, he volunteered with Central Fire Protection District for 10 years and was a 30 year member of the Fulton Lion's Club. He was a member of First Baptist Church for many years and then attended Carrington Baptist Church. Along with his wife, he traveled the lower 48 states extensively, made two trips to Alaska, and one tour of Europe. They also camped many years with the Poor Callawegians Camping Club. Along with his wife of 61 years, his memory will be cherished by his sons, James McVeigh and Richard McVeigh and wife Tammy, all of Fulton; daughter, Linda McVeigh of Fulton; grandchildren, Chad McVeigh of Portland, Ore. and Jayme McVeigh of Vancouver, Wash.; step-grandchildren, Julie Uhls and husband Chad of Fulton, Cindy Beckmeyer and husband Brian of Fulton, Ryan Henry and wife Ashley of Lebanon, Mo., and Kayla Goodwin and husband James of Lebanon, Mo.; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Bruce Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, at the funeral home.
