1952 - 2012
Richard Duane Salmons, 59, of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, formerly of Fulton, passed to Heaven on Sunday, August 5, 2012, after a three year long courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Richard and Opal Salmons on September 17, 1952, in Fulton. Richard graduated from South Callaway High School in 1970 and received a Bachelors in Theology from Hannibal LaGrange College, a Masters in Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Masters of Library Science from University of Missouri. He had served as Director of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada Public Library since November 2011. Richard's work ethic, wisdom, fearlessness for trying new things and taking risks was the inspiration for many in his life. Richard loved travel and was always planning ahead for his next cruise. He is survived by: his wife, Faye Herl, of Meeker Okla.; and six children, Tyler (Shelia) Salmons of Eldon, Amy (Rick) Balassone of Ava, Crystal (Dwight) Luna of St. Peters, Makenna, Zachary and Jordan Herl of Meeker, Okla. He is also is survived by: his parents, Richard and Opal Salmons of Fulton; one sister, Ellen (Emmett) Pendergras of Fulton; two brothers, Michael Salmons of Fulton and Scott (Karla) Salmons of Madison; 17 grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Route Z, Fulton.
