Robert E. Painter, 82, of Mokane, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at The Bluffs in Columbia. He was born on January 15, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of the late Howard Andrew Painter and Sylvia Pearl (Taylor) Painter. On September 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Paula Noreen (Eastwood) Painter, who preceded him in death. Robert was a member of the Mokane Christian Church and the Mokane Lions Club. He was a member of the Mokane High School Class of 1948. Robert dedicated his life to education and helping people with mental health needs. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons, Robert E. Painter II and wife Iris of Columbia, Steven C. Painter and wife Phyllis of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and David Painter and wife Marion of Springfield; two daughters, Sherry L. Davidson and husband Dale of Centralia, and Deborah K. Laemmli and husband Jim of Laurie; 12 grandchildren, Heather Morris and husband Mike of Columbia, Ben Davidson and wife Kalyn of Columbia, Amy Laemmli of St. Louis, Paul Laemmli and wife Cassie of Grandview, Matt Laemmli of Laurie, Amanda Ingham and husband Dave of Leeds, England, Stephanie Manes of Pittsburg, Kansas, Craig Painter and wife Jayme of Ozawkie, Kansas, Seth and Ethan Painter of Columbia, and Kimberly and Katherine Painter of Springfield; and seven great-grandchildren, Tre and Addie Morris, Isabella Manes, Dylan Ingham, Colby Painter, and Brady and Kiernan Davidson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, with Reverend Lee Edwards officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Mokane Cemetery.
