James Franklin Hague

James Franklin Hague, 88, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011. James was born on December 6, 1922, in Bevier, Mo., the son of Franklin James and Frances Margaret Bowman Hague. He married Naomi Jean McKenzie on September 23, 1946 and she preceded him in death. He later married Anne Valentine Bennett on May 27, 1988. James was a veteran of World War II in Company 1,358 Infantry with battles at Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He received several decorations, which included the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster. He was previously employed as a truck driver for Missouri Concrete. James owned and operated The Bait Shop and other businesses in Columbia area. He was an avid collector and seller of antiques and also enjoyed riding the back roads of central Missouri with his driver, friend and caretaker, Jackie Cockrell. Survivors include one son, Frank Davies of Tredegar, Wales; grandchildren, Lori Matthews, Lucy Matthews, Beth Ridings, Nathan Davies and Joe Davies; a sister, Bernice Cook; a brother, Billy Hague; and several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Huskey; brothers, Raymond Junior, Richard L. Sr.; half siblings, George, John and Joseph Mckinstry and Lucy Dailing; and his faithful dog, Daisy. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
