Gloria Mae (Plybon) Wren, 85, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born on May 16, 1934 in Fulton, Missouri to Lewis Vermont Plybon and Helen William (Hill) Plybon. She attended the Fulton Public Schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1952. Gloria worked during her high school years at the Fulton Theatre as an usher and cashier. Gloria was united in marriage to Julian "Clayton" Wren of Jefferson City, Missouri on August 12, 1952 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Clayton was a Sargent in the United States Marines. They enjoyed traveling southern California together. Of this marriage, two children were born, Deborah Sue Wren and Christopher Darcy Wren. Living in Wichita, Kansas, both Gloria and Clayton worked for the Boeing Company. Gloria worked 13 years as an Engineering Clerk and Parts Lister, Experimental Flight Test Data Transcriber and Tool and Product Planners Assistant. In 1969, the Wren's moved from Wichita, Kansas back to Jefferson City, Missouri. Gloria worked as a Dental Assistant for a short time. In 1970 she was employed with the Secretary of State office. She worked in the Microfilming Department and Computer Output Microfilming. Gloria retired in 1992 from D.P.T. Office of Administration with 22 years of state service. She was a member of the Association of Retired Missouri State Employees. Gloria was always a very active person. She had many interests and hobbies throughout her life. Boating, waterskiing, collecting British Royalty commemoratives, crafting, scrapbooking, she was a big flower lover and she had such interest in English Royalty. Gloria loved music and she loved to dance. Gloria was known as "Sis" by her family. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, her love, her big smile and always being there for others. Clayton and Gloria had 67 years of married life together. They loved their children "Debbie and Chris" and only grandson "John Wesley." She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a "Forever Friend". She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband: Julian Clayton Wren; one daughter: Deborah Sue (Wren) Struemph (William Neal Struemph) of Bloomington, Indiana; one son: Christopher Darcy Wren of Jefferson City; one grandson: John Wesley Struemph of Bloomington, Indiana; one sister-in-law: Neoma Delorse "Dutch" (Zimmerman) Plybon; and several nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her father: Lewis Vermont Plybon; her mother: Helen William Plybon; brother: George Lewis Plybon; one sister and brother-in-law: Betty Louise (Plybon) Fischer and Robert Eugene Fischer; and nephew: Jeffery Lewis Plybon, all of Fulton, Missouri. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Williams officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Riverview Cemetery.
