John Conner "J.C." Rountree, 96, of Auxvasse, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. J.C. was born February 22, 1923, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the son of John Irvin and Edna Ellis (Satterfield) Rountree. On November 15, 1947, in Fulton, he married Betty Jean Weber. Mr. Rountree was a farmer and retired 33 years ago. He was a member of the Auxvasse City Presbyterian Church, where he had served as Elder and Deacon. J.C. was a good dancer and enjoyed playing cards. He also loved to travel and go fishing. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Betty Rountree of the home; three children, Dickie Rountree of Ft. Myers, Florida, Randy (Kay) Rountree of Brownwood, Texas, and Connie (Ray) Hinton of Cedar Falls, Iowa; six grandchildren, Lindsay (Aaron) Klasing of Chesterfield, Kyla (Ryan) Davis of Hobbs, New Mexico, Gregory (April) Hinton of Waterloo, Iowa, Heather Rountree of Portland, Oregon, Jessica Hinton of Waterloo, Iowa, and John Tyler (Elichia) Rountree of Ft. Riley, Kansas; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews. J.C. was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Irma King; and one brother, Richard "Buss" Rountree. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, at the Auxvasse City Presbyterian Church with Jim Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Auxvasse Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico. Memorial donations may be made to the Auxvasse City Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
