Charles Lee Benson

Charles Lee Benson, 94, of Fulton, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Fulton Presbyterian Manor. He was born on August 31, 1924 in Callaway County, Missouri, the son of the late Vinson Benson and the late Annie (Love) Benson. On January 7, 1950, Charles was married to Gloria Jean (Hunt) Benson. She preceded him in death on July 7, 1950. On June 24, 1960, Charles was united in marriage to Betty Jean (Vandelicht) Benson. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2018, following 57 years of marriage. Charles served his county in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the South Pacific for two years. For many years, Charles owned and operated Benson's Auto Service with his brothers, Russell and Donald. He attended Central Christian Church Charles will be missed by son, Terry L. Benson (Peggy) of Freeburg; daughter, Lisa L. Wilson (Steve) of Lompoc, Calif.; grandchildren, Amanda Wilson, Heather Baltzell (Chris), Jennifer Haller, Emily Weber (Tyler), and Terry Benson Jr. (Laine); seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wives, Charles was preceded in death by siblings, Audrey Redden, Russell Benson, Donald Benson, Rolla Benson, and Helen Wolfe. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum.
