Edward Dale Ambrose, 72, of New Bloomfield, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at his home. Ed was born on July 19, 1946 in Henley, Missouri to the late Norman and Nellie Brizendine Ambrose. He was married on June 27, 1969 to Candace Whitehurse in Billingsville, Missouri and she survives. He was a 1964 graduate of Prairie Home High School. He became a member of the United States Navy in 1964 and served on the U.S.S. Shangri-La until 1969. After his discharge from the Navy he graduated from Linn Technical College in 1969 and began working at Cheeseboro Ponds in Jefferson City, Missouri. He then began working for MODOT as a bridge draftsman until his retirement in 2005. Ed was a member of V.F.W. Post #2657 in Fulton and the Old Car Club in Jefferson City. He enjoyed traveling, carpentry work, restoring old cars and helping his friends and family work on anything that needed repair, but his greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife of almost 50 years, he is survived by one son, Robert (Amy) Ambrose of Holts Summit, Missouri; one daughter, Holly (James) Kuenzi of San Leandro, California; one brother, Ralph (Mathel) Ambrose of White River, South Dakota; three sisters, Wanda Lachner of Prairie Home, Missouri, Pauline Chandler of Birmingham, Alabama and Reta Hampton of Emporia, Kansas; and five grandchildren, Brooklyn, Callie and Asher Ambrose and Jackson and Olivia Kuenzi. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Norman Ambrose, and one sister, Billie Jo Stone. A Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 323 Redwood Drive, New Bloomfield, MO 65063. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ellis Fischel Cancer Center or V.F.W. Post #2657, both in care of Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, MO 65251.
