Henry Cates Berry, 81, of Mexico, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital. He was born in Boone County, Missouri on December 13, 1936, the son of the late Wayne Richard Berry and the late Emma (Oswald) Berry. Henry was united in marriage to Susan (Jefferson) Berry on May 17, 1986. She survives his passing. Henry proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955 until 1969. He served two tours in Vietnam from 1966 until 1968, receiving a Bronze Star with "V" Device, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal (3rd Medal), National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Parachutist Badge, and Expert Rifleman. He enjoyed working in the yard and gardening, reading, and was a gifted woodworker. Along with his wife of 32 years, Henry is survived by sons, Rick Berry (Heather) of Tebbetts, and Ben Theis (Laura) of Panama City, Fla.; daughters, Vicki Craighead (Ronnie), and Dora Crawford (Karl), all of Fulton; grandchildren, Dustin (Lakyn), Lindsay, Jennifer, and Rusty; and great-grandchildren, Kylee and Hayden. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Wayne R. Berry Jr. and Howard W. Berry. Private family services will be held at a later date.
