Margaret H. Craighead, 97, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away on September 17, 2018 at Presbyterian Manor. Margaret was born on January 31, 1921 in Denison, Iowa, to the late Charles and Goldie Chrestensen Hoffman. She was married in Denison to Lamar Craighead on May 29, 1953 and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1981. She was a devoted member of Old Auxvasse Nine Mile Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and taught Sunday school and Bible school. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women at Old Auxvasse Nine Mile Presbyterian Church. Margaret taught school for 14 years in Crawford County, Iowa and she was the first woman elected to the North Callaway Board of Education. She was a recipient of the Evelyn Bedell Award and volunteered as a 4-H leader and served as a board member at Fulton Presbyterian Manor. She is survived by sons, David (Debbie) Craighead Jr. of Fulton and John (Janice) Craighead of Fulton; daughters, Rachel (Randy) Salmons of Fulton, Lois Craighead of Springfield, Missouri and Ann (Russ) Murry of Louisiana, Missouri; sister, Betty Maddox of Fulton; grandchildren, Garrett (Cailin) Portra, Grant ( Marla) Portra, J.C. Craighead, Susie (Dustin) Reese, Jimmy Craighead, David H. Craighead, Morgan Murry, Jeremy Salmons and Corey Salmons; great-grandchildren, Josephine Portra, Madeline Portra and Benjamin Portra; along with numerous nieces, and nephews. Margaret was a very Christian loving mother and grandmother. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Fredrick, George, Robert and Chester Hoffman. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Old Auxvasse Nine Mile Presbyterian Church, 2982 County Road 156, Kingdom City, MO 65262. The family will receive guests from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
