Maurice L. Curtis, 89, of Fulton, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. He was born in Callaway County on September 5, 1929, the son of the late Walter "Jack" Curtis and the late Mary Catherine (Gregory) Curtis On February 11, 1955, Maurice was married to Patricia Ann (Sellers) Curtis. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2010. Maurice was a Korean Veteran, serving in the United States Army. He worked at The Callaway Bank for more than 40 years, retiring as a Vice President. His hobbies included reading, puzzles, playing penny slots, and traveling. He was first and foremost a family man who treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He loved Christmas and playing Santa for his family. Maurice was a member of the American Legion. Those remaining to mourn his passing include daughters, Diane Bartley (Kenneth) of Columbia, Judy Donnell of Columbia, and Nancy Elkthunder (Jim) of Fulton; sisters, Jewell Wuertz (Howard) of Ariz., and Barbara Hayes of Fulton; grandchildren, Angela Reeder (Joseph) of Columbia, Rachel Donnell of Seattle, Wa., and Michael Donnell of St. Louis; and great-grandchildren, Maxwell Reeder and RuthAnn Reeder. Along with his parents and wife, Maurice was preceded in death by brother, James Marvin Curtis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
