Vernon Earl Bezler, 87, of Fulton, Missouri, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 4, 2018. He was born at Reform, Missouri on February 26, 1931, to Hadley and Beatrice Bezler. Vernon graduated from Fulton High School in 1949. On March 10, 1951, Vernon married Lois Jean Lawrence. She preceded him in death. Vernon farmed in the Reform community until his employment at Ovid Bell Press in 1957. He worked there until his retirement in 1991. He was a soft-spoken and wise man. He loved to attend auctions, was well known for impeccable woodworking and his knowledge and collection of antique tools. He shared these loves with his good friend, Alton ("Cork") Maddox. They enjoyed their visits every Thursday sitting around the pot-bellied stove with the Liar's Club at Crane's Store in Williamsburg. He devoted his life to serving God and living a Christian life. They were blessed with two children, Carol Earleen Bezler of Palmyra, Missouri and Steven Lynn Bezler (Kelley) of Jefferson City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Jacque Lynn Benson (Scot) of Calgary (Chestermere), Alberta, Canada and Christina McHenry (Conner) of Jefferson City, Missouri; and one great-grandson, Ethan Isaac Benson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hadley Bezler. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Bruce Williamson at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow at Steedman Cemetery in Steedman. The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
