Robert William (Bill) Booksh, age 91, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, at his home with his loving wife, best friend, and soul mate at his side along with his beloved little dog, Bubba. His son that he was so proud of and loved so much was on the phone with Juanita with support when Bill passed away. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Bill was born in Plaquemine, La. and grew up in Lafayette, La. where he attended public schools and graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1948. He served with the Army Air Corp in 1945. Bill enjoyed a 37-year career with Texaco and worked in many places including Crane, Texas, Loco Hills, NM, Midland, Texas, Lafayette, La., Houston, Texas, and New York City where he was coordinator pipelines international. Bill retired in 1985 as President of The Texas Pipeline Co.; a wholly owned subsidiary of Texaco Inc. He was Director and served as President of a number of pipeline companies. Bill was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church (San Antonio) and former member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension (Lafayette), St. James Episcopal (Conroe), Brae-Burn Country Club (Houston) and Crown Colony Country Club (Lufkin). Bill was a sportsman. He loved to fish and hunt and was an avid golfer carrying a single-digit handicap most of his adult life. He and Juanita moved from Houston to San Antonio in 1993 and joined The Dominion Country Club. The family would like to thank Dr. Gordon D. Willey for his attentiveness and care and we thank Katie Walker of Homewatch CareGivers for her unfailing help and support. Bill is loved, cherished and will be missed always. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, James Howard and Esther (Drackett) Booksh; brothers, Gene and Jack Booksh; mother and father-in-law, Harold and Gretchen Hatcher. Survivors include Bill's wife of 42 years, Juanita Hatcher Booksh; son, Robert William (Doc) Booksh Jr. (Paula) (New Orleans); daughter, Debi Smith (Jay) (Lafayette); grandchildren, Jaci Smith Russo (Michael) of (Lafayette, La.), Jarod Smith, Janis Smith, Christopher Booksh (Istanbul, Turkey); and Elizabeth Burns (Bobby)(Birmingham, Ala.); great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jordan, Maggie and Molly Russo; brother James Booksh (Broussard, La.); and nephew, John D. Booksh (Lafayette, La.). A memorial service was held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in San Antonio at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church or a charity of choice.
