Darrell R. Whanger

Darrell R. Whanger, 67, of Sedalia, formerly of Fulton, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018. He was born on August 20, 1950, in Fulton, the son of Roy Whanger and the late Ruth (Laws) Whanger. Darrell was an active member and elder of Central Christian Church. He enjoyed singing hymns with his church family. Over his lifetime, he managed several businesses. Darrell was an avid Missouri Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Darrell especially enjoyed his time working as an usher for MU football games. He also loved to talk sports with his nephew, Randy. In his spare time, he enjoyed caring for his house plants, fishing and barbequing. Darrell treasured time with his family and was very proud of his grandchildren. Those remaining to mourn his passing include his father, Roy; daughters, Rachel Whanger and Beth Lyles (Ben), all of Sedalia; brother, Ron Whanger (Michelle) of Mexico; sister, Joyce Ingle (David) of Mitchellville, Iowa.; six grandchildren, Chase Lyles, Trent Lyles, Isabelle Lyles, Addison Lyles, Maxwell Lyles, and Makhi Jaff; and several nieces and nephews. Darrell was preceded in death by his mother; and son, Dan Whanger. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Central Christian Church with Pastor Bill Nigus officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
