Betty Fischer, 81, of Fulton, passed away peacefully, ending her life's journey, on Saturday, May 19, 2018. She was a lifelong native of Fulton, Missouri. Born on September 24, 1936, to Lewis and Helen (Hill) Plybon, she was the youngest of three siblings which included Gloria (Clayton) Wren and George (Neoma "Dutch") Plybon. Betty recently celebrated her 60th Wedding Anniversary to her husband, Bob Fischer. She loved working since her teenage years; selling popcorn and movie tickets at the Fulton Cinema, as a Medical Assistant, and until retirement after 30 years at The Callaway Bank in Fulton. After the birth of her sons, Travis Fischer and Jim Fischer, she decided to become a homemaker. She always wore a pretty lapel pin along with a smile. Betty was a selfless and altruistic wife, mother and friend. When asked what she wanted from someone, her reply was to give "just a pretty smile." Her character and positive attitude was evident from the time she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer two years ago. Rather than pity, she chose to love and live every moment she was given, always with grace until God called her home. She is survived by her husband, sons, sister, and sister-in-law. A Celebration of Life will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to White Cloud Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, Missouri. Condolences may be left for the family at www.maupinfuneralhome.com.
